Preserving Our Home – Providing for Our Community!

The Project

In order to remain a viable, safe space for women in need, this historical structure must be updated and maintained. We recently underwent a historic assessment/inspection to determine the structural needs and requirements to safely maintain the home. As one of the few Lembke structures left in the area it is critical not to lose this important representative of Valparaiso’s rich history. Future projects involving the neighborhood and other local organizations are dependent upon this “lovely lady” being available to safely offer their services and programs to the community

    Join us for our April Members Meeting to hear from Blake Swihart of Indiana Landmarks! Blake Swihart is the Director of Indiana Landmarks Northwest Field Office. As director, Blake oversees Landmarks' preservation services across nine counties in Northwest Indiana. He also serves on the board of the Lake Michigan Coastal Advisory Board, Calumet Heritage Partnership, and the Indiana Lincoln Highway Association. He has degrees in history from Indiana University and McGill University, and historic preservation from Eastern Michigan University. He lives in Valparaiso with his family. We’re looking forward to learning more about him and Indiana Landmarks!
